Mary, Paul, Dylan, & Mason {Waco Family Photography}

Saturday was fantastic! The weather was great–mild temperature (here in Texas, we’re just barely getting into cooler weather) and the sun was shinning with an occasional breeze. And… To top it all off, we had the pleasure of meeting Paul, Mary and their adorable kiddos–Dylan and Mason. The boys were comical to watch as they ran around on search of the “best” stick to battle against the unsuspecting (yet furtive, I’m sure) bug or the random rogue grass blade. In between the imaginary warfare and caterpillar discoveries (although, I think the caterpillars were the good guys despite Mason’s multiple attempts to squish), we managed to sneak in a few family photos:-)

Special thanks to Dylan and Mason for allowing us to surreptitiously follow you on your quests:-)Paul and Mary, your kiddos are wonderful! We’re so grateful for the opportunity to photograph your beautiful family. We truly enjoyed spending time with you all! Enjoy!!

Kids + Pumpkins

Fall is my favorite time of year. There’s just something about the first chill in the air that brings a warm fuzzy to my heart … although, living in Texas, this moment usually occurs somewhere between Halloween and Thanksgiving. I’m hoping my happy autumn thoughts may bring it here soon;-) I love the sweet aromas of this season … mainly the delicious yummies that have pumpkin somewhere on the ingredient list. And from what I hear, there’s something about a seasonal pumpkin spice latte that makes people go crazy… in a good way. Speaking of pumpkins, we discovered a cute little pumpkin patch near our home at the Silo Christmas Tree Farm (oh, and they also have Christmas trees!). Today, I took a trip down memory lane and discovered this snapshot from our first visit to the pumpkin patch two years ago. Can’t wait for fall to come to Texas:-)

Speaking Engagement

This Friday, I spoke to a Fort Worth group of photography enthusiasts about … you guessed it–photography! I mostly talked about composition and warned them about the ubiquitous “faux-tographer.” If you’re interested in what not to do in photography, check out this super helpful reference: youarenotaphotographer.com The speech went so well that I’d thought I’d share:-)Below is a video from a quick session with my kiddos and the subsequent photos. Enjoy!

Todd+Amanda {Temple Wedding Photography}

A few days ago, the stars aligned and I had the honor of accompanying my friend Melody, to a fun afternoon wedding at BLORA. Todd and Amanda’s wedding was so delightful and laid back, we felt right at home with their friends and family. The sunflower theme was a perfect choice to this joyful wedding. Amanda’s little boys, took the role of ring bearers and looked too adorable in matching outfits. The decorations were stunning (kudos to Amanda’s mom), and the setting was beautiful as the lake created a fantastic backdrop to the ceremony. Oh, and the best part (other than photographing two wonderful people joining in holy matrimony) was that the guests supplied dessert! What a great idea! And some amazingly talented person baked these beyond-delicious-scrumdiddlyumptious chocolate chip cookies! I cannot express how heavenly they were! Melody and I put our will power to the test and only ate two… or four…. each:-)

So, back to the merry couple…. After a quick wardrobe change, Todd and Amanda romanced their way into the night with a phenomenal live musician and plenty of dancing. We never saw smiles leave Todd and Amanda’s face. These two were made to be together. Congratulations, Todd and Amanda!

Dylan and her Parents {Temple Family Photography}

This session is about a little girl named Dylan. She’s five years old and absolutely loves to run! She demonstrated her amazing speed as she ran to her mom and dad (who were there mainly as a smiling audience to Dylan’s delight:-)). After sneaking in a few shots of the whole family, Dylan found a treasure trove of sea shells–of course, we couldn’t leave the site until we collected at least a dozen of our favorites:-)We stashed the shells with dad and continued our session downtown while enjoying the rare, not-so-sweltering, breezy Saturday morning weather. I loved watching the interactions with Dylan and her parents. She’s so silly and mom and dad know exactly how to directionalize (I think I just made up a word) her interest. We had a great time together–thank you so much, Dylan for sharing your morning (and parents) with us! Enjoy!
