So your BIG DAY is finally here! Hooray! Months and months of planning have now cumulated into the wedding of your dreams. All the hard work and stress will now pay off and your efforts will finally come to fruition. The only problem left to tackle now is your nerves. How does one relax when so much needs to be orchestrated in mere hours? Rule number one, don’t panic. It IS possible to be cool as a cucumber on your wedding day, if you follow these tips: 5 ways to relax on your wedding day:
1. It all starts the night before your wedding. You’re excited (who wouldn’t be?), which might make sleeping a bit more difficult, but this is not the ideal time to through a last minute bachelorette party in your room. What is necessary, is plenty of sleep. Even if you have to hit the hay an hour before your natural sleep time, it is definitely a must for your body and mind to be fully rested on your wedding day.
2. Start your wedding day doing something relaxing. Believe it or not, to get yourself to relax, you might want to try something relaxing. Makes too much sense to work, I know, but just go with me on this one. A recommended morning routine on your wedding day, is to take a bubble bath. Others might want to go for a jog–you know, exercise can do wonders to relieve stress. As you sit and soak in the bubbly goodness, or take a stroll around the block, clear your mind. Think beyond the wedding day to your life ever-after with the person your just about to marry. It will be splendid and at this moment, nothing else matters.
3. The next step in starting your wedding day right is to have a good, balanced breakfast. You might not feel hungry at all, but your body needs nutrition and nerves eat up a lot of energy. Think healthy with this meal. Try to steer clear from heavily sugary breakfasts that will inevitably zap the energy from you. Make sure you have plenty of protein and carbohydrates. Eggs are an excellent source of protein–oftentimes called the “super food.” If you’re needing a little pick-me-up during the day, remember that fruit is a fantastic snack with good brain sugars.
4. Have someone else hold the reins. If you have a wedding coordinator, wonderful! If not, you may feel like the weight of the world is on your shoulders. You’ve been through the planning. You know how things need to come together–now is the time to pass on this knowledge and designate and assistant or two…. or seventeen. Many times family and friends are more than willing to help the bride and groom on the wedding day and are readily available to “do” something. Jump on this opportunity and give them a task! Keep things simple and try not to overwhelm one person with too many tasks. Everything can and will be done, but now is not the time for you to worry about it.
5. Last, but definitely not least, be prepared for the unexpected. Sometimes weddings don’t go exactly as planned. That’s ok. Be ready to embrace the “not-so-scheduled” moments that may come about. You must be ok with this. Deep breaths and a go-with-the-flow attitude will make the unexpected seem more palatable. No matter what comes of the decorations, cake, flowers, etc., know that this is the first day of your life together with your perfect person. Above all else, Enjoy it!
